Façade
At the edge of reality and the ideal: A projection of contemporary desire through virtual facades.
Facade: A Duet of Reality and Illusion through Photographic Representation.
Inspired by a life-sized replica covering St Paul’s Cathedral, ‘Facade’ explores the collapse of the boundary between reality and simulation. These images act as a trompe-l’oeil, shifting between realism and hyper-reality to challenge our visual perception of what is truly “real.”
This series examines the ambivalent role of photography in the digital age. When a 2D simulation is captured through a lens, does it represent reality or merely an illusion? Perhaps these facades are reflections of a contemporary longing to encounter the ideal within the real world—a mirror of our restless, urban desires.
