Ground Cloud

It explores the friction between natural beauty and industrial power. By reframing European nuclear landscapes as painterly scenes, it exposes a surreal boundary where the stillness of nature meets the unseen pulse of technology.

The ‘Ground Cloud’ series explores the duality of modern energy through the vapor of nuclear power plants settling over historic European landscapes, from Gothic cathedrals to serene vineyards. While scientifically identical to the clouds in the sky—composed simply of H2O these surreal clouds on the horizon symbolize a precarious boundary where technological optimism, collective trauma, and the insatiable energy demands of the AI era intertwine. This ambiguous landscape, where primal fear and endless desire intersect, serves as a portrait of contemporary society, posing a fundamental question: “With what shall we sustain our civilization?” In this space where reason meets emotion and reality encounters the surreal, the work invites us to contemplate the path forward.
